Northern desertification and land stress

Dryland degradation is increasing pressure on grazing lands, crop systems and water access in several states. Vegetative cover is declining and exposure to wind-driven soil loss is growing, forcing livestock keepers and smallholder farmers to adapt under greater climate variability. Support for restoration and soil-moisture management remains limited relative to the scale of the need.
