About the project
About Ecosafrica
Ecosafrica is a research-informed documentation and environmental advocacy platform focused on making ecological change visible, understandable and actionable. A core problem the platform addresses is that many local environmental situations remain underreported or poorly documented, particularly in communities where ecological pressures are severe but receive limited public or research attention.
Ecosafrica currently begins with local environments in Nigeria that are closer to our field access and community relationships. This local-first approach makes it possible to observe conditions more carefully, listen to the people most affected, verify evidence responsibly and connect documented needs to practical interventions rather than making distant or unsupported claims. Other local regions across Nigeria that are under documentation will be added soon, followed by a gradual expansion across Africa as partnerships, field capacity and reliable evidence grow. The long-term aim is a connected African platform grounded in the realities of each community, while the present work remains focused on Nigerian environments we can study closely and represent with care.

Ecosafrica was developed to help close the documentation gap around local environmental conditions in Nigeria. The platform aims to present ecological situations as they currently exist, using field observation, secondary research, and clear communication.
The goal is to bridge academic research and public understanding by providing accessible, well-sourced environmental information that can support communities, students, researchers, and policymakers.

Methodology
Ecosafrica documents environmental situations through field observation, secondary sources, and ethical visual documentation. Each situation is cross-checked using multiple sources before publication to support accuracy and transparency.
Why Ecosafrica exists
Many environmental challenges in Nigeria, especially at the local level, remain underreported or misunderstood. Ecosafrica exists to contribute clear, research-oriented documentation that can support better understanding, informed discussion, and long-term environmental awareness.
